du telecom - UAE Service Provider Failure from Holiday Offers!

December 18th, 2007

du is UAE’s new integrated telecommunications service provider with a fresh approach. or at least this is what they say… is it?

Today Tuesday 18th of December 2007, i have had it with du telecom and their useless GSM / Telecom services. This came after months of suffering from bad reception, dead signal and the lack of coverage areas, continuous disconnections in the middle of my ongoing calls and for sure the inefficient customer service and, and , and… i kept on falling for it until today were for no reason and no previously mentioned notices! my du line died!

I could receive calls, but couldn’t make any!!! at the beginning i blamed it on my iPhone thinking that i screwed it up with applications and continuous experiments, but it wasn’t the reason.

The reason was that “du” had recently used it’s Media Power to announce a new offer for the holidays season. this offer was so good that it caused an overload with the service, leading to a complete failure with all outgoing communications. This wasn’t announced at all, customers were totally blinded from any information! even calling their customer service numbers didn’t work as they had a “complete failure with all outgoing communications”… can you imagine that?!

The funny part was the way i knew about this :)

I was in the mall shopping when i bumped into a du retail storeyes they have one with attractive offers to fool you“, i went there and asked the Filipina cash counter girl explaining my situation and how i can’t make any calls since morning… she told me while scanning the price tag on the new prepaid line that was being sold to a gentleman beside me saying: “Sir we are having a technical problem due to users overload, as we are running this new offer… Sir…” and there i lost the connection with her! Overload! Because of an Offer!!! how bad is their infrastructure if it is not designed to absorb a certain amount of users?

I kept on asking myself! Why the hell did i choose du? why the F^$% did i move to the new service provider?

The answer is simple!… It’s Media! Their marketing approaches are so good to blind your eyes!

    Hahahahhaa!

Well bro, I never bothered with Du, not even with the golden number offer which I never chased, or the number I reserved, it is a total failure since day one - Shift back to etisalat, they are the best provider so far in UAE. That does not make them great still!

Du apparently forgot the first part of the name: GANdu ;)

    Cheers.

have you ever thought what does the word “du” stand for? well i did and i would say it stands for:

    du = Disconnect You!

    Bro,

Just move back to Etisalat already. I find it funny that she was scanning some other poor guy’s price tag while saying “Technical Difficulties”. Shows you how oblivious the consumer is to a point where he’s buying and overhearing this and probably still went with the sale.

Too good to be true. Good luck :D

I did man! I moved back on the spot :)
I’m using my old Etisalat number again now… Good thing that i was still using it as my main number as i didn’t have the “du faith” but kept on rolling with it like an idiot! sucks that my du number is a sexy number :S

    Hi,
I, like several Du customers had a terrible experience with Du.Life was rosy till I made an application for Du ‘Home Package’. well its a long story the moral being…’customer support’ does not live upto its name. emails are responded to by autoresponders.false promises et al..i think i dont have enogh space here to tell u the whole story

  7. satish menon Says:

contd. customer support has no access to customer data!!im told their customer db got deleted!!. after you are made to recite ur date of birth, passport number bla. you will be told that you would be called back in 24hrs. you email customer.care@du.ae you receive the same message from an autoresponder which also thanks you for chosing Du as ur provider of choice(do u hav a choice! there is no alternate provider)finally when i got the service installed the technitian tells me that he was manhandled by a some ’satisfied’ du customer who identified him as he sports a Du polo shirt.

  8. Dido Says:

Thank you for your valuable comment Satish, i really know how you feeling and all i can say here is “Sorry” that word that you won’t hear much from du :)

  9. ghassan Says:

  10. Dido Says:

Well Ghassan, let be fair here…
